About After School Programming

Education in Action now offers after-school program to middle school youth in certain Rhode Island communities.

Exchange City After School

Offered to middle school students in Providence, Exchange City After School is a fun way for students to work together with their peers as they run their very own city!

Students visit Exchange City twice a week and participate in hands-on educational and teamwork activities as they improve their math, civics and language arts skills. The experience culminates with a 5 hour Exchange City simulation that will reinforce what students have learned throughout the session.

Young Star Business Club

Calling all future C.E.O.'s! During this after school program, students will learn just what it takes to make their creative ideas a reality. Students will develop their very own products or services, create business & marketing plans and present their final business plans to a panel of investors. While these businesses ventures will not actually  be funded, this program offers students the ability to explore their own creativity while learning valuable skills.

Check with your after school provider to see if this program is offered at your school.

Young Star ACTIVE-ists

Young Stars ACTIVE-ists is a hands-on exploration of social entrepreneurship and health and wellness concepts.  Students identify key health issues in their community and develop an action plan to combat the discovered ailments, with a primary focus on childhood obesity. Students design an action plan that should be centered around a product, club, or program which informs the community about pressing health issues or helps fight said health issues.  After the product is developed the students will present it to a ‘board of investors/nurses’ who offer a critique and assist in its implementation!

Past products includes items such as a healthy snack book, school exercise club, and a booklet of kid-center exercises.
